Sugarland Gives Back to the Fans

Sugarland Gives back to Young Fan and Changes Her Life.

Anyone who has been to a Sugarland show lately knows that they are all about the fans. They clearly enjoy what they do onstage, and it just looks like they are putting everything they have into their show. Their show just continues to evolve from a production and theatrical standpoint while at the same time including the fans in the show. I saw them in Kissimmee, FL and experienced the famed Hamster Balls Live and firsthand. I was sitting on the 4th row and Jennifer Nettles rolled right over our heads in this gigantic hamster ball. It is totally hilarious. Here is a video clip of the hamster balls at their sold out show in Atlanta Georgia, on April 10th if you have not seen this.  You’ll find out why Jennifer Nettles said in an Interview with Chicago’s WUSN:   Jennifer Nettles declares Sugarland as a full contact sport.  Watch out Baby!  You might just get a knee to the head at the next Sugarland Concert!

This past year they have implemented a guitar giveaway at every show. They start teasing the crowd with Kristian Bush holding up the guitar and taunting the crowd with it. Both Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush sign the guitar with a sharpie right there live on stage. Then Kristian Bush runs back and forth on the stage and into the crowd until a suitable person is found to receive the coveted Sugarland Autographed Guitar! Here is a video clip of a one of the Sugarland Guitar Giveaways in Evansville, Indiana. It is very cool to experience live.

The young lady pictured above is 8 years old and was the recipient of Sugarland’s Guitar Giveaway at the 40 Watt in Athens, Georgia in February. I received this comment here at SugarlandMania in the photo section from the 40 Watt concert from her mom:

I just wanted to thank you for posting these pictures. My 8 year old daughter was the little girl who received the guitar in the photos. I wish that I could let them know that she is now taking guitar lessons… all because of that night! Her first concert was one that will never be forgotten. Take care and thanks again for letting us relive the night in these photos!

I e-mailed her mother and thanked her for the kind words and asked her to send in her picture from the show and tell us a little more about her experience at the concert. Here is what her mom wrote:

Here is the picture of my daughter when she received the signed guitar. This was her first concert ever… we drove from Atlanta, got a hotel and she even got to miss school the Friday after the concert.
She thought all of that was a huge deal and then she received the guitar! Her 8th birthday was a month after the concert and she wished for a guitar that was her size and lessons. Her wish was granted! If Kristian and Jennifer only knew what an impact that night made on Gracie. It Could possibly be the greatest moment of her life and one of my top 5! Thanks for posting the pictures of that night in Athens and thank you for sharing our story!

I know that Sugarland meets a lot of people on a daily basis, and they are gracious and very eager to meet with and talk with their fans. I hope they know how much the things that they do…such as the Guitar Giveaway impacts other people’s lives. Especially the “little people.”

Way to go Sugarland…Keep it up!
